Mason City man gets prison for role in deadly shooting

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — A Mason City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in a February shooting that killed one man and left another with disabling injuries.

Daniel Martez Judon IV, 24, was sentenced after pleading guilty Friday to a count of intimidation with a weapon in Black Hawk County District Court, online court records show.

Authorities say missing Iowa woman found in wrecked car

The Globe Gazette in Mason City reports that 42-year-old Tonya Collins had been missing since last week.

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — Mason City schools will drop the mascot “Mohawks” in favor of a brand that doesn’t exploit Native American tribal symbols and imagery.

The Mason City Board of Education voted Monday to retire the “Mohawk” name and mascot and begin the search for a new mascot in January.
