Hurkacz beats Humbert in Halle, Medvedev wins opener

HALLE, Germany (AP) — Defending champion Ugo Humbert and the second-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas were both eliminated from the Halle Open in the second round on Wednesday.

Humbert lost to Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (5), 6-3, and Nick Kyrgios fought back to beat Tsitsipas 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 at the grass-court tournament.

Cressy snaps 7-match losing streak to beat Evans at BMW Open

MUNICH (AP) — American Maxime Cressy ended a seven-match losing streak at tour-level by beating sixth-seeded Daniel Evans of Britain 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the BMW Open on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Cressy hadn't won since reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open in January.

Ruud advances to 3rd round in Barcelona Open

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Second-seeded Casper Ruud defeated American Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round of the Barcelona Open on Tuesday.

Ruud, seeking his second title of the season after winning in Argentina in February, broke serve four times to comfortably get past his 81st-ranked opponent.

American players Fritz, McDonald, Paul win in St. Petersburg

The fifth-seeded Fritz beat Finnish qualifier Emil Ruusuvuori 6-1, 6-4 and will next face Paul, who defeated Spanish player Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-2.
