SAN DIEGO (AP) — General manager A.J. Preller continued to remake the San Diego Padres' outfield, and added an intriguing two-way player as well.

A look at what's happening around the majors today:
BOSTON (AP) — The hard chopper bounced off first baseman Mitch Moreland's glove and high into the air. Second baseman Brock Holt jumped to glove the ball and flipped it to first, where David Price was covering.
NEW YORK — And so it was cold and raw and blustery last night at Yankee Stadium .?.?. and Drew Pomeranz threw 123 pitches in just five innings.
“The warmest guy on the field is the guy on the mound,” said manager John Farrell, this after his Red Sox completed a 5-4 victory against the Yankees.
Depending on which part of the linescore you look at, Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz was either dominant or disappointing in yesterday’s 7-5 win against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Pomeranz struck out 10, including five in a row at one point.
Since his arrival in Boston last summer, through the winter and all spring, Drew Pomeranz has kept us all guessing about who and what he is.
Like whether he’s any good. Whether he can stay healthy.
FORT MYERS — Drew Pomeranz won’t be confused for the most healthy pitcher in Red Sox camp, but the left-hander was optimistic yesterday that his triceps tightness was a one-and-done injury.
Pomeranz said his arm felt much better the day after leaving a Grapefruit League start early.
FORT MYERS — Drew Pomeranz is injured again, and a trade made when the Red Sox were desperate for starting pitching help last July continues to look questionable.
The 28-year-old saw his workload increased over the last week and he believes that may have contributed to the tightness he felt in the triceps of his pitching arm yesterday.
FORT MYERS — The Red Sox may not have the kind of competition for the fourth and fifth spots in their starting rotation that was originally expected.
Instead of watching Drew Pomeranz, Eduardo Rodriguez and Steven Wright battle it out on the mound, the Sox may have to let this fight take place in the trainer’s room.
