NEW OFFICER IN HANOVER

March 22, 2017 GMT

Hanover’s town council swore in the police department’s newest officer Tuesday night during its regular meeting. Isaac Salters, 26, graduated from the Southwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in November of 2015. He is also a graduate of the National Association of School Resource Officers. He previously served as an officer at Vincennes University and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department. Salters said he didn’t know Hanover Town Marshal Josh Taylor, now his boss, at the time, but he replaced Taylor when he left Vincennes for Hanover. Salters said he was attracted to the Hanover job when Taylor told him about the “community feel” between local law enforcement agencies and the support each provided to the other. When he and his wife were looking for a new home outside of his hometown of Vincennes, the man who once thought he’d like to become a history teacher, said Madison’s historic offerings made the decision that much easier. Salters’ employment as an officer officially began Monday.
