Roseburg shuts out Grants Pass in girls tennis dual

The Roseburg girls tennis team shut out Grants Pass in a Southwest Conference dual meet at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Courts on Tuesday.

No. 1 singles player Adrienne Powell defeated Grants Pass’ Elizabeth Williams, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles Bailey Pritchard and Megan Danielson played a competitive match against Pauline Minder and Grace Connelly of Grants Pass.

The Indians were struggling in the first set against the Cavers, but won 7-6 due to strong play at the net late in the set.

In the second set the Roseburg girls had an early lead and although Grants Pass came within two, the Indians won 6-4.

Roseburg will host North Medford at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
