KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (AP) — A woman was killed and a man was injured after they were struck by a car in a North Carolina town, police said.
Kings Mountain police said officers went to an intersection around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, where they found a man and a woman lying in the street, The Star of Shelby reported. Minnie Lee Clinton, 76, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Rodney Jemal Clinton, 45, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released, police said.
An investigation led police to a home where they found Fredrick Wilson, 67. Police charged Wilson with hit and run, death by motor vehicle and going armed to the terror of the public. Police provided no specifics on the latter charge.
He was being held in the Cleveland County jail on a $75,000 bond. The clerk of court office said Wilson waived his right to a court-appointed attorney, but hadn’t hired an attorney to represent him as of Monday afternoon.
