SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A former business manager in Louisiana is accused of paying himself an extra $31,500 in October and December. Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator said Friday.

Robert Phillips Jr., 54, of Bossier City, has been arrested on a charge of theft and transferred to Caddo Parish, Prator said in a news release.

It was not immediately clear whether Phillips has an attorney who could speak for him.

An accountant discovered that he had received five paychecks in October 2021 and eight in December, Prator said.

He said that according to a report filed Dec. 29, 2021, Phillips left the office shortly after the accountant emailed him about the extra paychecks, and did not return.

He was arrested Tuesday in Bossier Parish and moved to the Caddo Parish jail on Wednesday, Prator said.

He said the arrest warrant specified bond of $75,000.
