FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A man and a woman were found shot to death in separate incidents within 24 hours in a North Carolina city, police said.

Fayetteville police said in a news release that one of the shootings occurred on Sunday afternoon as families were preparing for Halloween in a neighborhood.

According to police, the shooting suspect drove up to the home, opened fire on the victim and fled. On Monday, police identified the victim as James Malique Gross, 25.

Just after midnight Sunday, police said, a woman was found shot to death in the parking lot of an apartment complex, a separate news release said. Investigators said there was a disturbance in a vehicle that lead to the suspect shooting the victim and leaving her in the parking lot, police said.
