FULTON, Mo. (AP) — Fulton police said Wednesday that a victim of a home invasion and the suspect both died from gunshot wounds.

Police responded to a call about a disturbance at a Fulton home on Monday night. Mark Chan Lee, 58, suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a Columbia hospital, police said.

A second man was treated and released for a gunshot wound and a woman was physically assaulted during the home invasion, police said.

Witnesses reported a male was seen fleeing from the scene after the shooting. A man’s body was found on Tuesday a few blocks away from the home, partially under a utility trailer.

Police on Wednesday said the man, Willie M. Thompkins, 45, of Fulton, was the suspect in the home invasion.

He had suffered a gunshot wound, police said, but survived long enough to apply a tourniquet while eluding capture. A firearm was found with his body.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
