Police: Kentucky suspect fatally shot during WVa pursuit
LYNN, W.Va. (AP) — An officer in West Virginia fatally shot a Kentucky man during a pursuit involving a vehicle that was believed to be stolen, police said Wednesday.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office said state police are leading the investigation of Tuesday night’s shooting in the Lynn area. The sheriff’s office said in a statement that Norfolk and Southern Railroad police also are among other agencies involved in the investigation.
The statement did not identify the officer who shot the suspect. It said the incident involved a stolen vehicle and police pursuit but did not give details. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. In a separate statement, state police identified the suspect as Robert Lee Daniels Jr., 27, of Freeburn, Kentucky.
The sheriff’s office said no further information was being released until the investigation is completed.
