4th arrest made in Portland shooting that left 1 dead
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A fourth person has been charged in connection with a shooting in Portland in April that left a man dead and a woman injured, police said Saturday.
Jonathan Geisinger, 44, was arrested in South Portland on Friday on a charge of felony murder in connection with the April 26 shooting of Derald Coffin, police said in a statement.
Coffin, 43, was in a vehicle parked on Woodford Street when just after 1 a.m. he was approached by a group of people and he and other other victim were shot. Coffin was taken to the hospital where he died. The other victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Police did not disclose a possible motive.
The other three suspects were arrested earlier this month.
Police went to a South Portland home at about 5:30 p.m. Friday where they believed Geisinger was located. Officers surrounded the home and the suspect was taken into custody at about 8:30 p.m.
He is being held on $500,000 bail. It was not clear if he had retained an attorney.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
