Northwestern to host Rotelli light installation
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Northwestern University’s Deering Library will be the backdrop next month for an elaborate light show by noted Italian light artist Marco Rotelli.
Officials say the installation will bathe the library facade with his unique illuminations during the third week of January.
School officials say Rotelli’s creation is inspired by the Dylan Thomas poem “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night,” and will “celebrate the triumph of the human spirit over the forces of cold and melancholy.”
The illumination will be visible to people passing by the library and motorists traveling past the Evanston campus on Sheridan Road.
The Italian-born Rotelli was the 2013 Artist-In-Residence at the school’s Kaplan Institute for the humanities.
Rotelli’s light installations have been featured in cities all over the world.
