WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy was injured during a traffic stop when her squad car was struck by a vehicle along Interstate 29 in southeastern North Dakota.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the incident occurred Tuesday after a vehicle and the squad car were stopped in the southbound lanes of I-29. The driver of a pickup failed to move over and struck the Richland County Sheriff’s Department vehicle.

The deputy was transported to a Fargo hospital with a broken arm, KVRR-TV reported. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
