Good riddance to cowardly Ryan -- Marlene Buechel
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, and his supporters could not be more wrong when they try to convince us he is leaving the House with a positive legacy. Nothing could be further from the truth.
He doesn’t have any positive accomplishments. Certainly not the most recent tax “reform” or budget debacle in which Speaker Ryan and others who have for years claimed to be fiscally responsible chose to reward the already wealthy while at the same time burdening future generations with stifling debt.
Ryan had every opportunity to be a true leader. He could have stood up for decency, morality, honesty and approving federal policies for the common good. Instead he, along with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, cowered in the corner and let the current incompetent and corrupt administration trample on everything that is good about this country.
The speaker did not represent the citizens of his district, Wisconsin or the people of this country with any kind of honor.
Good riddance. Had he not chosen to retire, voters would have retired him in November anyway.
