Man charged in deaths of girlfriend’s daughter granddaughter
A man has been charged in the deaths of his girlfriend’s daughter and granddaughter in a fire that was deliberately set at a southern Maryland home last month, officials announced Friday.
Firefighters were called to a report of an altercation and fire at a Waldorf home on March 31, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. After the fire was extinguished, Rashawn Cline, 27, and her 1-year-old daughter, Dashawn, were found dead inside the home, officials said.
Vincent Anthony Fisher II, 46, who lived at the home, was arrested after the fire and charged with assaulting another resident just before the fire, officials said.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal determined that the fire was deliberately set and the Clines’ deaths were ruled homicides as a result of the fire.
Fisher was identified as a suspect in the blaze and charged Thursday with first-degree arson and murder, officials said. The Clines were the daughter and granddaughter of Fisher’s girlfriend, who lived at the house.
Fisher is being held without bond. Online court records show that the county public defenders office is representing him, but a call to the office seeking comment was not immediately returned.
