Police: Girl, man dead, woman wounded in Troy condo shooting
TROY, Mich. (AP) — A man suspected of killing his 6-year-old daughter and wounding his wife later fatally shot himself as officers approached his car at a suburban Detroit condominium complex, police said.
Troy police said a 39-year-old woman called 911 from her neighbor’s condo Tuesday morning and said her husband had shot her at their home and fled the scene, The (Royal Oak) Daily Tribune reported.
As the woman was being transported to a hospital for treatment, officers entered the couple’s home and found the girl shot to death in an upstairs bedroom. Police said she is believed to be have been the couple’s daughter.
Police subsequently made phone contact with the suspected shooter, a 52-year-old man, and found his car parked outside the Northfield Hills Condominium Complex clubhouse.
“As officers approached the suspect vehicle, the subject shot himself in the head,” police said in a news release stated.
The man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said a handgun believed used in all the shootings was recovered from the suspect.
