Memorial Garden Planting set for May 22 in Pocatello
POCATELLO — The 18th annual Memorial Garden Planting will be held on May 22 at Southeastern Idaho Public Health, 1901 Alvin Ricken Drive in Pocatello at 5:30 p.m. This community event creates a living tribute in the form of a memorial garden and offers the community a place to grieve, reflect and remember their loved ones.
The event includes the garden planting, flag ceremony and a brief program and will conclude with a picnic hosted by staff and volunteers of Southeastern Idaho Public Health and Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
“For 18 years, community members have brought an assortment of annual flowers to plant in the Memorial Garden in memory of someone special. Annual flowers are planted each year to represent the cycle of life. The flowers die but the remembrance goes on,” said Karla Alex, committee member.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend and bring annual flowers (marigolds, petunias, pansies, etc.) to plant in the flowerbeds starting at 5:30 p.m. The community is welcome any time to enjoy the garden located at the Southeastern Idaho Public Health.
“Losing a loved one is never easy. For those of us left behind, the garden offers a place to remember and heal,” Alex said.
