Work begins on Interstate 65 in Simpson County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — A project to rehabilitate and resurface Interstate 65 in southern Kentucky is beginning this week, officials said.
Work is being done on I-65 in both directions from the Kentucky-Tennessee line to the Warren County line, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said in a statement.
Motorists can expect shoulder closures in both directions for several weeks in the beginning stages of the project, the statement said. As it progresses, I-65 will be down to two lanes during the day and one lane during some nighttime hours. Long travel delays are expected when lane closures begin and police will be onsite when only one lane is open, officials said.
In addition to resurfacing, construction crews will also fix issues related to drainage. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
