Body-painted activists protest exotic skin bags outside Charleston store

Two protesters covered in body paint meant to simulate reptile skin urged shoppers in downtown Charleston on Thursday to avoid products made with exotic animal skins.

Representing People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Inga Schmidt and Bianca Giron protested from inside a giant mock handbag in front of the Louis Vuitton store on King Street ahead of the Southeastern Wildlife Expo.

PETA has held similar events in other cities to try to sway shoppers from exotic-skin bags, watchbands, shoes and other accessories.
