MIAMI (AP) _ Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $1.35 billion, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Miami-based company said it had a loss of $6.29 per share. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to $5.62 per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $4.92 per share.

Royal Caribbean shares have decreased 60% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 53% in the last 12 months.
