VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Alexco Resource Corp. (AXU) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $8.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 3 cents per share.

The mining company posted revenue of $2.2 million in the period.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company’s shares hit 80 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $2.85.
