Heard on the Street: Entrepreneurship Week kicks off Monday

November 11, 2017 GMT

Rochester’s aspiring entrepreneurs have a lot to talk about next week.

Monday morning kicks off the annual series of events for Global Entrepreneurship Week.

This is the fifth year a series of local events has been created to mark the international week. It’s celebrated in 165 countries throughout the world.

The Rochester series has grown from small beginnings in 2012. At last year’s week, Rochester’s GoRout sports tech firm announced a major new product. This year’s events promise to offer their own excitement as well as information for wanna-be startup founders.

There will be morning, luncheon and evening events each day from Monday to Friday. People interested in attending can register for events at gewrochester.org. The schedule of events also is available on the GEW Rochester site.

The highlights of the week include a keynote present by Scott Meyer, a community leader and economic activist from Brookings, S.D.; an evening discussion with the successful co-founders Wade Beavers, Joe Sriver, and David Borrillo, of Rochester’s DoApp; and the first-ever Student Entrepreneurial Showcase to spotlight products and services created by local students.
