MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Police have arrested a driver wanted for striking and killing a pedestrian in Mandan early Monday.

The victim, a 77-year-old Mandan man, was fatally struck in the parking lot of All Seasons Arena about 7:30 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup involved left the scene and police urged the public to be on the lookout for a white Ford F250 with Montana license plates.

A police officer in Bismarck later spotted the pickup in that city and tried to make a traffic stop. But, the driver did not pull over, drove down a hill, into the parking lot of the Motel 6 and struck the building.

Bismarck police arrested the 39-year-old man behind the wheel.

Mandan police are being assisted in their investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Bismarck Police Department and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
